41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration at Berekum East Municipality
On Friday, 5th December 2025, the Berekum East Municipal Assembly joined the nation in commemorating the 41st National Farmers’ Day. The colourful event was held at Kutre No.1 within the municipality to honour hardworking farmers and fisherfolk whose dedication continues to drive agricultural growth and food security.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar, together with the Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Hon. Elder Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, graced the occasion. In her keynote address, Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar commended farmers for their resilience and innovation in the face of challenges such as climate change and market fluctuations. She emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting agricultural modernization, value addition, and youth participation in agribusiness.

Elder Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, in his remarks, highlighted the critical role of agriculture in sustaining livelihoods and national development. He pledged continued advocacy in Parliament to secure policies and resources that will empower farmers in the constituency and beyond.
The celebration featured an exhibition of farm produce, agro-processing demonstrations, and recognition of outstanding farmers across various categories. Awards were presented to deserving farmers, with the overall Municipal Best Farmer receiving special honours for exemplary contribution to food production and community development.

The event reaffirmed the municipality’s dedication to promoting agriculture as the backbone of the local economy and encouraged citizens to embrace smart, sustainable practices to ensure long-term food security.
