Visitation to Churches in the Berekum Municipality by Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar, MCE, During Easter Festivities

Berekum, Bono Region – 5th April 2026

In a remarkable display of unity, interfaith harmony, and leadership by example, the Honourable Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Berekum East Municipality, Hajia Fati Abubakar (also referred to as Hajia Fatima Binta Abubakar), embarked on a widespread visitation tour to various churches within the municipality during the Easter festivities.

The MCE, accompanied by her entourage and some assembly officials, visited prominent churches across Berekum and its surrounding communities to felicitate with Christian faithful on the occasion of Easter — commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Key Highlights of the Visit

During the tour, Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar extended warm Easter greetings to congregations, pastors, elders, and church members. She emphasized the importance of peace, love, and mutual respect among all faiths in the municipality.

Easter is a season of hope, renewal, and sacrifice. As leaders, we must foster an environment where every resident, irrespective of religious affiliation, feels safe and supported. Our strength as a municipality lies in our diversity and unity,” the MCE remarked at one of the stops.

She used the platform to:

  • Congratulate churches on their contributions to moral upbringing, education, and community development.
  • Appeal for continued prayers for the development of Berekum East and Ghana as a whole.
  • Reiterate her administration’s commitment to equitable development projects that benefit all residents.

Church leaders, in turn, expressed appreciation for the MCE’s gesture, describing it as a positive step towards strengthening inter-religious cooperation. Many commended her for reaching out during this sacred period, noting that such visits promote tolerance and social cohesion in the area.

Significance of the Engagement

This Easter outreach underscores Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar’s inclusive leadership style shortly after assuming office. As a Muslim leader actively engaging with Christian communities, her actions reinforce the shared values of service, compassion, and national unity that transcend religious boundaries.

The visitation covered churches from different denominations, reflecting the religious diversity of the Berekum Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive was joined by key personalities, including assembly members, heads of departments, and representatives from the traditional authorities in some communities.

This initiative is expected to be one of many collaborative engagements aimed at building a more united and progressive Berekum East Municipality.

Long live Berekum East Municipality! Long live Ghana!
