Berekum East Municipal Assembly Supports 22 PWDs

The Berekum East Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Fati Abubakar, has disbursed vital livelihood support items to twenty‑two Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality.

The distribution exercise forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to empowering PWDs through the Disability Fund, ensuring inclusivity and sustainable livelihoods. The items presented included deep freezers, fufu pounding machines, hairdressing equipment, assorted soap products, second‑hand clothes such as bedsheets, provisions, and an electrical welding machine among others.

In her remarks, Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar emphasised that the initiative was designed to provide practical tools that enable beneficiaries to engage in income‑generating activities, thereby improving their standard of living. She encouraged recipients to make judicious use of the items, highlighting that the Assembly remains committed to promoting equity and supporting vulnerable groups.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Assembly and the MCE for the intervention, noting that the support would help them establish or expand their small businesses.
