PROFILE OF THE STATISTICAL DEPARTMENT
The Statistical Department aspires to provide reliable and responsive statistical services for good governance and development. The mission of the Department is to harness, produce and manage quality local level statistics base on National Standards using competent staff for evidence-based decision making in support of local and national development
The technical structure of the Statistics Department is made of two distinct units
Field Operations Unit
Data entry and analysis unit
The Unit has a Head of Department, 2 Assistant Statisticians and 2 Secretaries
The Staff of the Department include, Mr. George Bright Obeng as HOD, Mr. Gyabaah Hayford as Assistant Statistician, Mr. Gyan Stephen also as Assistant Statistician, Ms Ruth Ohenewaa as Secretary and Ms Esther also as Secretary
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
Collect, compile, analyse, publish and disseminate demographic, health and economic data on the district.
Undertake monthly market readings on selected goods and services from designated market centres in the District and submit returns to the respective Regional Office of the Ghana Statistical Service for the computation of the following:
Consumer Price Index (CPI)
Producer Price Index (PPI) and
Production Index (PI)
Enhance the use of statistics for evidence-based decision making.
Harmonize the concepts, methods, and classifications used in production of statistics at all levels systematize the collation of administrative data across sectors and geographical units.
Reinforce the coordination of statistics generation, compilation, analysis, storage, archiving and dissemination across MMDAs.
Strengthen the capacity of statistical staff at the district levels.
Engender statistical literacy among stakeholders.
Maximize revenue generation and utilization.
